Embrace the pain. Let it drive you.
One can make no growth unless they embrace the change.
Go forth, destroy.
I know this is a little different than the norm, but it’s a quote from one of my favorite Futurama episodes.

Woo! Thanks, man. I appreciate the feedback. Posting OC takes more time than I have, but I try to keep at it. Cheers!
Anonymous said: What is the best strength training routine for me? I have dumbells barbells and a chin up bar, no money for regular gymn membership. I am slim and have limited funds for calorie intake.
Depends on your goals. I understand you said “strength training” but you also mentioned a caloric intake. This leads me to believe you’re interested in putting on some lean muscle, yes?
If so, considering your equipment, I would recommend the SS program (starting strength) in combination with a high caloric intake. Eat plenty of protein, and if you aren’t already learned in the kitchen, learn how to cook! Lots of chicken breasts, whole wheat pasta, and lots of veggies (potatoes too). The pasta might be a little expensive, but you can get frozen chicken breast for fairly cheap.
SS focuses primarily on form, heavy sets, and increasing your powers and size. It’s a great program for beginners due to it’s focus on form, and gaining size is a common goal. Additionally, it’s all free-weights, so you should be totally set with your equipment.
Cheers! Stay hungry.
Anonymous said: Hey Nerdfit, I was wondering how not to feel tired and run down when lifting and also eating at a calorie defecit. I am eating oats and whey + blueberrys for breakfast at about 5AM, then a lean meat, veg, and wholewheat pasta for my lunch and dinner, this results in about 1700 calories a day. I have the most important exams of my life in two months and this is why im taking in alot of complex carbs, I need to study my ass off and concentrate all day until may.I hit the gym in the AM before class
This one is tough. It’s difficult to keep peppy when not in caloric deficit, and even hard when you are in deficit.
I’m going to provide you with two specific ideas. The first being a rather common solution. The second, not so much.
Firstly, integrate some antioxidant teas throughout your day. Antioxidant rich teas can help keep your energy levels high, and often have a little help with caffeine. Though, you might have already heard this, as it’s not a revolutionary idea.
The second idea, is to reduce the number of carbs you’re intaking. I know this sounds weird, but try replacing them with healthy fats such as macadamias, coconut, most nuts (no peanuts), avocado, etcetera. It’s a common concept called FatFueling vs CarbFueling. Yes, this is a paleo-based concept but a sound one. The healthy fats provide energy without spiking the insulin as heavily as carbs. Not only that, fats provide vital nutrients required by the body for both energy and the construction/maintenance of “structural” elements, such as cell membranes.
Though, since you’re watching your caloric intake, you’ll have to ensure the calorie rich foods you’re eating are equivalent. This will result in your meals getting a little smaller in total mass.
Good luck with the exams! Hit me again, let me know how it all goes.
In regards to the “I’ll get too bulky” argument, or for any of the ladies who aren’t sure about crossfit or lifting.
Fucking, this >
It’s cool if you’re skinny, and it’s cool if you’re not.
Just be healthy—shitty stuff happens at both extreme ends of the spectrum.
Few things make me more grouchy than seeing a photo reblogged into the stratosphere by a ton of pro-ana fuckwits. Starving yourself isn’t noble. Body dysmorphia is…
Everyone dies. Not everyone truly lives.
I know I’m getting a little more existential than usual, but keeping fit, keeping with your goals, and reaching the ultimate potential of our mortal beings is at least a catalyst to truly living. We should remember that, and embrace it as motivation. Inner reflection coupled with outward representation.
I just got back from 70K Tons of Metal - I’ve made the following video to demonstrate how my week went: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjkUitcIiyg&hd=1
In one word, insane.
